SPECIAL GUEST: Martin Mittelbach from Tegernseerhof in the Wachau, Austria
The Mittelbach family estate, Tegernseerhof is located in the Wachau in Austria. The history here is impressive: the original facilities were built in 1176! The Benedectine community of the Tegernsee Abbey built the facilities and it and the vineyards are mentioned as far back as 1427. This was the center for wine production for the Bavarian monastery. The Austrian empire acquired the estate at the turn of the 19th century and later went to private ownership. The Mittelbach family has owned this now for 5 generations.
Martin has taken over as winemaker and has gone from strength to strength. His Rieslings and Gruner Veltliners receive accolades from sommeliers and the press.
We'll taste 4 wines from Tegernseerhof and 1 wine from his uncle's estate. Each wine will be paired with a small dish inspired by the wines and prepared by Chef Nickolas Kipper.
Join Martin for a very special guided tasting of his family's estate and his wines.
This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to taste some truly spectatcular Austrian whites and to meet one of Austria's most dynamic young winemakers.
